I would never answer to a telephone poll or any interview, because I am not anonymous then - but the interviewer is.

I'm not completely sure, if this word is Sanskrit or Bengali, but I like the sound and meaning very much:

Re: Daily Practices?

Thanks for the replies! Just a quick question for anybody that does any sort of chanting/sutra reading: do you prefer in your native tongue or do you have a special liturgical language (Pali, Sanskrit, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Tibetan, Vietnamese, etc)? I depends. Some long texts are better to re...

Re: Daily Practices?

I do some meditation/recitation twice a day. What exactly is not so interesting.
I enjoy making some offerings every day and especially I like practcing on the bike or while walking and traveling. It is a good methaphor, when the mind makes a journey and the outside-world is traveling as well.

Re: Food and its dangers

I copied a post of (the new) Kalu Rinpoche (Tibetan Buddhism) from Facebook. 【Be careful with food】 Now I am going to talk about the necessary changes in the life of a practitioner. Most of the time, when we talk about being a practitioner, practice and retreat, we all have understandings like, I ne...

Re: The place of chanting

... The place where I agree, is that mantra and other chanting aren't really good at purifying the mind. ...
Well, you don't know the Vajrasattva mantra then. It is a mighty tool in Vajrayana.
But Vipassana is a respected means as well. Noone in Vajrayana propagates a path without Vipassana.

Re: What are your favorite spiritual/religious paths?

1. Tibetan Buddhism (Sutra & Tantra). Mainly Gelug, but other traditions I find helpful and amazing as well (Kagyü, Nyingma). 2. Zen (some aspects of its simplicity I appreciate). 3. Theravada - as wonderful Buddhist source. But I don't believe, it is the only authentic Buddhism. 4. Hinduism. Some s...

Re: When inspiration for practice is low...

I suppose the difficulties I'm facing are depth of concentration, when outside of retreat environment mind is experiencing at a gross level, and there is much wandering(mostly thinking of work related things). The hindrances are overpowering me lately. Yeah, that happens for all of us from time to ...

Re: When inspiration for practice is low...

This feeling of being "unsupported" and having no space for meditation, I know as well. But in my case it evolved to the better over the years. I enforced in my family: I need two squaremeters for to sit, and I don't allow them to put their bags or laundry-heaps there. Two squaremeters sacred place....

Re: When inspiration for practice is low...

You are absolutely correct and I certainly don't wish to give the impression that I do not appreciate my family life and regret it in any way. I practice in Goenka tradition of meditation. You begin with 10 day courses then when you do a certain amount of courses and service you do old student cour...

Backyard Green, a completely unknown band from Germany. They made a song from a part of the poem "The Hound of Heaven" by Sir Francis Thompson, who died in 1907. https://soundcloud.com/lotta-hentschel/back-yard-green-die-stimme?utm_source=soundcloud&utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=facebook :candle: :c...

Re: Forum purpose not clear

No problem at all, if he writes: "Where I live, the trees are red." In additon to that he shouldn't denie the existence of green leafs. Especially he should respect the Green Subforum and refrain from denieing their experiences, because he is otherwise disrupting a fertile discussion there. :mrgreen...
