Re: Personal Experience Forum

No worries. I know many Buddhists are vehemently against personal narratives on Buddhist boards. Just trying to navigate the waters as this is a new forum. Some on the old Dharma Paths were particulalry committed to confessional writing.

Just learning the ropes after the transition.

Re: Personal Experience Forum

Nicholas...

OK, I misunderstood. You had said: "just venting your problems in a public forum".

Re: Personal Experience Forum

Sharing personal practice details is rather private between guru and disciple; asking for guidance or just venting your problems in a public forum is part of the reason the old Dharma Paths faded away. Nicholas... My apologies. I didn't realize my posts in the old Dharma Paths were so negative and ...

Re: Personal Experience Forum

I had hoped to participate more in this forum, but I'm still not seeing a practice-oriented space where one can talk about one's experiences and struggles in the first person. It seems more like the DW's except with a broader scope. It may be that I'm missing something or perhaps all the fora can be...

Re: the great Nirvana debate

i try to bring these points to essential point of practice. it is said that all the buddha's teachings are trainings and methods for working with the mental afflictions. this includes dialectical and philosophical teachings. for me, in the long run, it's mattered a lot less what i've found myself be...

fourth of july dharma lesson

i exclusively write about the dharma in the first person as personal narrative and experience. this seems to be anathema to most of my buddhist peers, but it seems to be the only way i can authentically discuss buddhism as practice . they said it is easier to beg for forgiveness than to ask for per...

Re: Personal Experience Forum

I had posted quite a bit near the end of the old DP-- but in my own blog as it wasn't clear which fora were appropriate for what I wanted to share. That was never clear with DP. I'm not sure I follow what you mean about the Parisa Abhaya forum-- in the new DP this is the only place where it is appro...

Hello from the Red Hills

I'm Jon and I live in the Red Hills with my wife where I'm a failed academic and equally failed entrepreneur. I've practiced in the Tibetan tradition since '88, but my practice has also been influenced by Chan/Zen and other faith traditions to some extent-- while not becoming eclectic and self-style...
