Modes of Being

Post by Nicholas » Thu Jun 22, 2017 2:58 am

These are pearls of ethical advice from a Tibetan Bodhisattva Ju Mipham whose body died in 1912. The translation was done by some Dzogchen followers, so that is why I put it in this section. But the advice is excellent for any Buddhist or with a little interpretation for anyone.

A couple of fine verses from this teaching:
Striving to benefit others,
Is the cause of an abundance of perfections in oneself.
Glory and great fortune
Are born from this, and it is this that summons them forth.

Someone who holds dearly to their own self concern,
Even if at first they are in the role of a leader,
They will continue to fall into lower and lower states,
Like a waterfall crashing down a steep cliff.
Cast no one out of your heart.
