Newar Buddhism & Holi

Post by Veer-Zinda » Sat Feb 25, 2017 6:15 pm

Holi is on 13th March this year. As a religious festival, I knew it was celebrated by Hindus, but apparently, it is also celebrated by Jains and Newar Buddhists from Nepal, who I had not heard of.

If Newar Buddhism is described as being a mixture of Buddhism and Hinduism, I can see why Holi may have religious significance to them, but not sure about the Jains. (This is notwithstanding the fact that Holi is celebrated culturally by non-Hindus.)
